Lil, Thanks for the reply. My friend is using the machine with OS 9.1 on the 1 gig drive, and aside from having to start and restart, says it's working perfectly. I'm waiting for a copy of Jaguar (supposed to be here any day now), and we've got a larger drive to install it on. It should take care of the problem.
It's still very confusing, though. When I installed OS 9.1, I booted from the cd, and initialized the disk in a single HFS+ volume, and then installed the os. Thinking about it now, I probably should have formatted the drive first. There is only one partition, and only one system folder visible in it. Could there be such a thing as a hidden system folder? Also, what is your read on the network disk listed in the startup disk control panel?
