<< Speaking as someone who is now even more of a confirmed PowerBook nut than
ever (the old black ones!), with a new BookEndz dock for a G3 'Book, I can
only second that. I won't be going back to "desktop" machines as my primary
ones anytime soon. >>

I can't imagine why you would feel that way. The dual processor G4 Sawtooth
Gigabit Ethernet is the best computer Apple ever made, period. The solitary
Harmon-Kardon speaker is decent, Apple has never had the best sound on their
computers, excluding maybe the 20th Anniversary Bose-equipped powerhouse.
The fan is almost noiseless, operating the machine is a blast because the 450
megahertz model packs a powerful punch as does the 500 megahertz Sawtooth.
The AGP slot is only 2X but you can upgrade to such cards as the GeForce 3
and my personal favorite, the ATI Radeon 8500.

With a memory capacity of 1.5 gigs, and room for extra hard drives, two
AltiVec engines (one per chip) 1MB of backside L2 Cache, a 64-bit datapath,
100 Mhz bus speed 3 PCI slots, 2 Firewire slots, and 2 USB ports, as well as
the Apple Display Connector, a very nifty cable that eliminates the need for
a jumbled cluster of cables and wires running from display to monitor. All
of this in a machine tower you can lift up, an easy-open side door that flips
open without a sweat... the ability to run the modern Apple displays, like
the 17" Apple LCD flat-screen Studio Display that I use, the ability to watch
DVD movies or video on your machine, and with the extra ports burning CDs,
expanding the hard drive, making it the ultimate digital HUB. When Apple
designs computers, they do it right, so that you don't have to make another
beefy investment until you're ready to.
