OWC says their PCI card is supported out of the box by OS X, so I'd
start with the assumption that it's not the card that's experiencing
the problems.

Before trying to mount your problematic FireWire hard drive under OS X,
be absolutely certain you've backed up anything on the drive you don't
want to lose.

The first place I'd start is plugging in and powering on the CD and
Oxford 911 hard drive. Put a known-good CD-ROM disk (not CD-R/W) in the
Panasonic. Open Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities). Do the two
FireWire drives show up in the tree to the left of the window? How
about the partitions? If the partitions show up, but aren't mounted on
the desktop, select one of the unmounted partitions on the CD in the
drives tree, then select "mount" in the options menu. If it then
mounts, you may have no further problems and you can go on to try to
mount the hard drive. If CD doesn't mount, do not attempt to access the
hard drive under OS X until you're sure you've resolved the underlying
problems.

If you can't mount the CD-ROM, report back with what happened and what
version of OS X you're using.
