every Nikon film scanner I have seen, including my professional 
photographer/friend's, has the usual 50 pin Centronix connector. 
All that is needed here , as was suggested, is the 2930 card which runs 
fine under X, and is both recommended for this use and supported. And 
it is cheap, too.
