I got my G4 just over 2 years ago, and had the mail order seller put an 
Adaptec SCSI card (#2906, I think).  It actually worked fine for over a 
year, then I started get all sorts of really bad scarey things 
happening.  For a while, I was convinced I was having power supply 
problems, etc. etc.  Finally, turns out the card was at fault--and I've 
heard other folks with similar problems.  I'm not sure why it worked 
with no problems for so long before causing so much grief.
