My system: Beige G3 Tower rev 3. 320 MB RAM. 7.8 and 60 GB Hard drives. Currently using OS 9.2.2 and playing with OS 10.2
For years now, using many Mac models and OS's up to 8.6, I have been backing up my files to DAT tape using Retrospect 4.0. It has paid off many times, allowing me to retrieve deleted files and recover from crashes. But since moving to OS 9, Retrospect no longer "sees" the SCSI DAT drive. So I am considering how to upgrade my backup system. Once choice is to purchase the current version of Retrospect that works with my DAT drive at a cost of $200US. Another thought is to change the CD-ROM to a writeable CD drive and use that for backup and other things but 800MB capacity is limiting for backup. Apple's SuperDrive has more capacity but does it work in a G3? Third thought is to use an external SCSI hard drive. Are there any better ideas or comments? Thanks.
