I have an 8-port Linksys also with a G4 Mac and a Win98 and WinXP PC connected (among other things). I found I had to go to the admin screen of the Linksys Router using the http://192.168.1.1 address and forward the ports for MSN messenger to work on the XP machine. The same thing is likely for your Mac. Since I do not use AIM on the Mac I cannot verify that to be true however there are likely some postings on this. There were for the XP and MSN messenger.
Good Luck and check out 'forwarding' on the Linksys admin screen. Verify the LAN address for your Mac also.
