Thanks Aaron, but unfortunately I had tried your suggestion and it didn't work. I have 2 old "Main Identity" files that I'd saved in the past, each of which is around 300MB and 6 months' worth of email. Using the method Aaron outlined here above, I tried opening each file (named "Main Identity") in a freshly installed OE 5.05. When I open OE, the results are: File 1): the only email listed is the Welcome email in the Inbox. File 2): I have all the original Folders and Sub-Folders, and their contents, but the only emails I am able to read are the ones in the Sent folder. ALL the other emails (in the Inbox, all the Email List folders, etc.) are completely illegible: when I open an email (or list digest), all the characters are just gibberish, and often I get the message "Some of the characters in this email are in a language your computer cannot display". It would seem that the 2 large files of email I'd saved have been corrupted. Is that possible? Any way to fix it? I almost certainly had compacted the database of these emails in the past (i.e., holding down the key combo upon opening OE), if that makes a difference. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.
