Thanks for your suggestions, but it would seem that the 2 email files "Messages" that I saved have been corrupted and don't open properly.
In the meantime, as I try to recover about a year of email, can anyone recommend a good backup strategy and application for saving email in Outlook Express 5? Is there any way to save Mailing List email in separate folders for each list? Is there any way to save all the email from a given mailing list as, say, a big Word document? (*when I go to the Save As item in OE 5, the only options I get are to save as an OE document or a Simpletext document). Ideally, for simplicity's sake, I wouldn't mind being able to take a folder or sub-folder and save it as an individual file, in Word, for example, and then stuff it and back it up on a separate HD or CD-R. I guess the idea I had is more similar to Eudora, where you can make a separate folder, in the Mail Folder (in Documents), for each mail list or whatever; then you can save that folder simply by dragging and dropping it to a separate backup area; you can even give it a different name; then when you want to see your old messages, you just drag and drop the folder into Eudora Mail Folder. I like Outlook Express, but for simplicity's sake (I may be a bit dense here), I may go back to Eudora. Any and all suggestions, advice, assistance, etc. are, as always, greatly appreciated. Thanks.
