I have only been using a MAC for the last month so I feel pretty ignorant about specifics for the platform. That said I was recently told that any PCI ATA/100 card can work if recognized by the machine. Since I have a BW G3 with a rev. 1 board I understand adding a second/slave IDE hard drive won't work and a separate PCI card is needed. I put in a Maxtor Ultra ATA/100 PCI Adapter card I had. The system profiler says there is something in the PCI slot but nothing seems to see the attached hard drive. I feel confident the HD is good because I had it working in a G3 DT a couple of weeks ago and it is now warm to the touch. I am only running OS 10.2.3 and it has been working for me very well. Has anyone had any experience with the Maxtor card or am I just wasting my time with it?
I also have a Canon CanoScan D1250U2F scanner that I just plugged in to a USB 2.0 slot. The system profiler also identifies it but the latest downloaded version of VueScan says 'no scanner is found' and so far the Canon site has been unavailable for use. Is anyone using one and how are you doing it? All help will be very much appreciated. - George -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
