Well, it seems someone explained it recently but I didn't get it exactly.  The
program seems to write the desired startup disk location in the open firmware,
wherever that is.  Once you have established the OS X sytem as your default
startup you can boot in 9.2 by holding the option key for a moment after
rebooting.  I've been doing that lately and haven't had to use startup disk at
all.  It defaults to X unless the option key is pressed.  Neat.

Apparently that only works if your 9.2 and X systems are on different drives or
partitions.
