Running top on my box just now: (Beige G3, 768 M ram, OSX 10.2.4) Processes: 46 total, 2 running, 44 sleeping... 100 threads 11:34:48 Load Avg: 0.74, 0.27, 0.12 CPU usage: 26.3% user, 22.9% sys, 50.8% idl SharedLibs: num = 7, resident = 2.20M code, 172K data, 584K LinkEdit MemRegions: num = 2997, resident = 33.6M + 8.33M private, 54.5M shared PhysMem: 52.5M wired, 67.6M active, 118M inactive, 238M used, 530M free VM: 2.22G + 3.62M 6327(0) pageins, 0(0) pageouts Total memory in use is 238 M, with Finder, Mail, Safari, Preview and Terminal running. Your new system is messed up somehow. or some program is running that's eating system ram (the only program I know of offhand that does that is Strata3D Pro, which eats System memory for it's render buffers.) If this is a *new* new G4, they're not at all optimized to run OS 9, this may be an erroneous report, or something entirely unfamiliar. If you didn't like 10.1, I'd suggest you take a look at 10.2, it was a heck of an upgrade, like going from 7.5 to 8.1 in my opinion. > -- "Wherever you go, there you are." - B.
