I finally downloaded Quicktime 6.1 and did a quick test of iMovie 3.02. I noted no improvement in performance. It doesn't even supply a smooth video display. They have turned a thoroughbred into a dog. I hope they figure it out.
Meanwhile this debacle has driven me to start looking at Final Cut Express, which isn't a bad outcome. It's a pretty wonderful tool. The only performance problem with FCE was if I put the Canvas viewer on my second monitor, which is driven by the motherboard video of my rev 1 Beige Minitower, the playback is jerky. But on the main monitor, on a Radeon 7000, everything is smooth. I guess I should put my second monitor on the Radeon too, but I kind of like to watch X boot.
