This happened with my Bondi iMac. It would take forever to boot, sometimes sitting a white screen for 10-20 minutes before the 'happy mac' would come up and it would resume booting. It then started getting flakey USB response, and then the ethernet started going as well. Eventually turned out to be a bad power supply.
