hi dan, been following this one and was interested if you'd think about x. i tried this a couple of weeks ago and was really surprised and very impressed that it worked so easily.
i have a g4 running os x 10.2.4 - it has a adsl modem plugged into one of the usb slots. i bought a pc home from work wanting to use it for downloading stuff (has anyone found a good mac alternative for kazza desktop yet??!). to share the internet connection i literally went to the system preferences pane, clicked the sharing icon, went to the 3rd panel along labeled internet and clicked the 'start internet sharing' button. there's also a check box letting you choose which ethernet card to share on (normally the only option unless you have another card in a pci slot). i then used a cross over cable to plug the pc into the mac. using the pc's network connection panel (it's running w2k) i simply set it to use dhcp - and up came the connection. so in theory, if you chucked x on the machine with the modem, set it to share, plugged it into a ethernet hub and then set all the other machines to use dhcp in the tcip prefs... .. it should all rock and roll!! hope this helps, jake On Friday, March 14, 2003, at 08:56 pm, Daniel Kendell wrote: > Hi, > Something I forgot to mention......Will I have this problem in Mac OS > X? - > Simple answers please...i don't have it yet so I might not know what > you are > talking about! > > Dan -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
