Hi everyone, I'm back on the list... because I have a problem with my iBook. :(
All of a sudden last night, my dual USB iBook/500 has started behaving strangely. The iBook was asleep, and when I lifted its lid the screen did not come come back on. I moved the mouse around and hit keys on the kb because I thought it just hadn't woken up properly. But no matter what I did, no video. I rebooted, and still got no video (I could tell it was on b/c I could hear the hard drive spinning). After rebooting a few times, I noticed that if I tilted the screen at a certain angle,I could barely make out the desktop images. Just VERY VERY dark. Pressing the key to increase the brightness did not help. All I could do was keep rebooting, and finally after a few times the video did come back as normal. I noticed that the system clock had reset itself to 1976. About 15 minutes later, I was working at the computer (writing email) and all of a sudden the screen went black again. As before, if I tilt it at a certain angle I can see the images on the screen. But so far have not been able to get it back to normal. I am running 10.2.4. I find it hard to believe that the PRAM battery would die when this computer is just a little over a year old. But no idea what else it could be. Couldn't find any info on the web. Ideas?
