Norton Utilities for Mac can create nightmares of epic proportions, and I wouldn't let it near a Mac in its shrinkwrap. On 9.1, I can generally fix anything by deleting the "Naughty Nine" (or so) prefs and replacing them from clean back-ups of those prefs, copied from another drive. If more troubleshooting is needed, I run TechTool Pro 3 from the CD. Then I use TechTool Pro3 to delete and rebuild the desktop. Then I run DiskWarrior and its optimizer app. Takes a little time, but the Mac is stable and up for weeks. Disk First Aid is a joke, and Norton Utilities is downright dangerous, even on computers that are "maintained regularly." _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Best, Greg Burkman [EMAIL PROTECTED] ICQ 62393161 "The truth about a man lies first and foremost in what he hides." -- Andre Malraux -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
