Hi:
I'd like to get some information regarding the Apple DVD-RAM drive that was used
on earlier G4s.
Background:
Just bought a Sawtooth G4, and it has a DVD Rom in it. I like the DVD capability
of the drive, but would like to burn CDs as well. G4 case has room for only 1 5
1/4" drive (without extensive modifications), so adding an internal CD-R/RW
(burner) would mean that I lose the DVD capability. I'd prefer an internal
drive, and I am too cheap to spend on a Pioneer 104/105 drive. I don't really
anticipate using the DVD-RAM writing capability.
Questions are:
1. Can a DVD-RAM drive read standard DVDs (as in movie DVDs)?
2. Can a DVD-RAM drive write standard CD ROMS (as in music or data) and CD-RWs?
3. The only other approach I can think of is to use an external CD-R/RW on a
firewire port. Is there any other Apple-compatible drive (iDVD, ITunes) that can
read DVDs and write CD-R/RWs that is out there?
