The version of UNIX that Mac OS X is based on runs some routines at nite to clean up temp files and such and the Macs should run better left on than if not left on.

Without a lot of specifics I would have a hard time pointing you in a particular direction, email me off list if you want to get into it deeper I would be happy to try and help.

PS with OS X there are a couple video cards but the best bet would be an ATi Rage 128 or Radeon based card.

They seem to be fairly random. Except for these, this machine runs 24/7. They occur mostly on my upgraded Beige Tower (with a Sonnet 500 Mhz G4). I thought they were network related at one time.
