Just thought I would give the list some info on wireless access. I have a
maxed out beige with no available pci slots and wanted to get cable
internet access, but because of my house's layout, I had to go wireless to
my Mac.

I had seen info on some wireless to ethernet bridges from both linksys and
dlink that said they would work with ANY ethernet enabled device. Since I
support a couple of mixed Mac and pc networks at a couple of different
sites I had two words when I read this: Yeah, right.

Well I just set up a home network with a Dlink wireless router (DI-714P+, 4
ethernet, 802.11b and a print server) wired to 2 pcs and a Dlink Airplus
Ethernet to Wireless bridge (DWL-810+). After setting the admin password, I
was up and running on wireless.

I had some advice from another member of the list (thanks Caitlin!) to
stick with one brand if possible since most brands use the same ethernet
settings throughout the product line. However, she had a mixed Linksys and
Dlink set up and only had a step or two additional to get up and running.

In summary, the Ethernet to Wireless bridges do work without problems.

I hope this helps anyone thinking about wireless that does not have an
Airport slot in their Mac.
