sounds to me like a connection problem
this might also explain the buzzing sound

They are definetly unrelated as the buzzing was there when I bought it (second hand/privately) ---
chips making an audible sound is nothing unusual
most people's ears aren't good enough to notice

Well, I am a very particular audiophile...
