I've chosen "Apple 56k v90" for the built-in modem. That sound right? Connects at like 42k, but then again I don't really trust my house to have full 56k transfer over modem.
Now, the question:
Mail correctly automatically makes Internet Connect dial out but doesn't wait for the modem. When choosing to receive mail it immediately throws up "can't get mail on port 110, check if you did something wrong, loser..." but it also starts dialing right away anyway. After the modem connects I can manually get mail. Why won't Mail wait until the modem connects?
This is the first time I've used a modem w/ Jaguar. I used a modem w/10.1 w/o any problems (on another Mac). I also notice that clicking on the Sharing pane dials out automatically and if you "disconnect" the modem keeps dialing again unless you quit System Preferences. This bug alone (and the more annoying Mail issue above) may force me to turn off automatic dialing. Anybody got a fix?
