I have a beige G3 minitower running OS 9.2.2 in which I have installed an
Orange Micro firewire/usb card. The USB is working fine with my printer and
scanner. The problem I'm having is that I'm not sure if the FW ports are
working. I can't get Toast to recognize my Firewire Que CDRW and iMovie
doesn't "see" my DV camcorder. Everything used to work fine, but a few
months ago I had a big crash and had to take my computer into the shop. The
SCSI card was replaced and the drive had to be reformatted. Ever since then
I have not been able to make the FW work. I have tried every combination of
extensions I can think of, but no luck. According to the Orange Micro web
site, the drivers needed are included in the OS9 system software. I am
starting to wonder if the FW ports are bad. There are two of them and
neither of them seems to work. Is there any way I can test the ports to see
if they are functional so that I can figure out if this is a hardware or
software problem? Thanks for any help!
