Hi, gang: I'm testing the RAM tomorrow in another machine. I'm also yanking the HD and zeroing it out on another machine. For good measure, a new PRAM battery. And I'll take Hamlin's suggestion (thanks, Hamlin) and try booting HD-less to see what happens. Until then... best regards, Dana
