Resetting the PRAM will solve the problem. It's something about the way the OS monitors the data read/write on the hd. I first saw this on a clamshell iBook. Resetting PRAM always solved it for me. Diskwarrior can't help with this. If you actually try to run Diskwarrior (if I recall) it won't let you "fix" the directory because the drive reports "in use."
