Dear G List: About a week ago a customer purchased a Lacie external USB CDRW from the store at which I work. He returned about a week later to state that he was having difficulty trying to get this burner to work on his Beige G3 desktop. His computer is running OS 9.2.2, has been upgraded to a G4, and has a Keyspan USB card installed.
He spent considerable time conversing with Lacie trying to isolate why this burner will not work with his computer. For example, he was told to disable certain USB and Firewire authoring extensions because he needed to install Toast Lite 5.x. When he came into the store today, I hooked up the burner to one of our iMacs, which is running OS 10.2.6, and installed Toast Lite 5.x. I went to Apple System Profiler and the burner appeared as plain as day. In Apple System Profiler in OS 9.2.2 on his Beige G3, the burner is recognised. I burned a CD with his burner and it worked without a hitch. The Keyspan USB card in his G3 does work. He has a couple of other devices hooked up to this card and they work quite well. Whenever he launches Toast Lite 5.x, Toast reports that there is no burner available. Can anyone offer suggestions about how to resolve this issue?
