Sorry should have continued the original email with more info:- OSX 10.2.6 Used a newly erased CD-RW disk rated to 4x The data to burn was approx 570Mb = fairly full CD This was the first Finder burn after updating to 10.2.6

In the "Burn" dialog box it only allowed "maximum" speed with all the other speeds greyed-out including 1x. I continued with this setting. Subsequently the burn completed but then failed verification, and would not mount on the desktop.
