Sorry should have continued the original email with more info:-

OSX 10.2.6
Used a newly erased CD-RW disk rated to 4x
The data to burn was approx 570Mb = fairly full CD
This was the first Finder burn after updating to 10.2.6

Subject: Burn speed

I have a G4 iMac with cd-r/rw drive.

98% of the time I use Toast to burn, but today I used the Finder.

In the "Burn" dialog box it only allowed "maximum" speed with all the other
speeds greyed-out including 1x. I continued with this setting.

Subsequently the burn completed but then failed verification, and would not
mount on the desktop.

How can I convince Finder to burn at a speed other than "maximum"?

thanks

[I checked: Toast and iTunes allow several different speeds]
