Also, some SMTP servers check the originating IP to guard against using the 
server as a spam relay. If you come in on an IP block not owned by your ISP, 
you might not be able to use their SMTP server to send mail out. DSL Extreme, 
my ISP, does this. Thankfully you can check and respond to your email with a 
webmail interface.
