We use an inexpensive Lexmark Z45 and the control panel gives us several choices of color type printings. This printer does color great! Perhaps different models use different techniques, but I highly recommend this model here in my offices on a G3 Beige MT using both 9x and 10x. It takes the #20 Color, and #70 Black Ink Carts. I may be mistaken, but I believe I have seen third party carts at about half the price on the web. I know Sam's Club has Lexmark oem carts for almost half the price of Office Max or Office Depot. Usually two in the package.
