I have found the fix of the year when it comes to OS
10.2. I am sure that everyone is sick of the 8GB
partition limitation that is placed on the older mac
owners who wish to run 10.2, right..... Well, I have
solved it, so get out your spare 4GB apple hard drives
that are collecting dust and put them to good use.
Here is what to do about that 8GB partion issue, well
at least for those of us that do not have an Acard
Ahard.

What I did was to install OS 10.2 to the 4GB hard
drive that I had laying around the house. Just do your
regualr install of the OS, but make sure to have the
high capacity hard drive hooked up as well during
this. If you have a third party IDE controller hook
both of the drives up to it. It is very important that
you have the drives on the same kind of IDE controller
to work, wheather it is the on board one or a third
party controller.
After the installation of the OS is complete, dont
waste time downloading system updates.... those can
wait. Instead download Carbon Copy Cloner, dont worry
the software is "donateware", it is a comlete full
version for OS 10.2.X. Run CCC, select your source and
target drives, and hit copy. This will take awhile to
do cause there is going to be a little over 2GB of
data to copy over to the new high capacity hard drive
that the OS installer wants you to only use 8GB of.
After copying is complete, go to the file menu on CCC
and select the option to "Bless Old World Target
Drive", YOU MUST DO THIS OR THE DRIVE WILL NOT BOOT ON
YOUR OLD MAC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After you "Bless Old
World Target Drive", turn the system off, take out the
4GB hard drive, make your high capacity hard drive the
main drive of the system, and let her rip. It worked
for me and it should work for you. You dont have to
have 800 little hard drives cluttering up your desktop
and you will have won the war over the 8GB partition
issue that is so common among older macs. I have a
30GB HDD and it is now one whole drive and not broken
into 2 different drives.
