What do you want to do? For sharp black text-- laser To print photos or color documents where quality is more important than speed-- inkjet To print photos or color documents where speed is more important than quality-- color laser, but debatable Original purchase cost-- inkjet Cost per page-- laser Long term durability of output-- laser, but the gap is closing Quick color prints (kids artwork and day to day home use)-- inkjet Speed of text documents-- laser Long term mechanical reliability-- Laser FWIW, in my stores, all we have are lasers ranging from a Apple LaserWriterII (upgraded to a IIg with a controller board swap) from about 1987 to a 2003 HP 8150N network workhorse. Other than a few rollers drying out, we have hade no mechanical problems with any of our laser printers. At home I just retired a Color Stylewriter 1500 (from 1996 with very low page count- under 1000) because it was not usable in OS X. I replaced it with an Epson C82 (with a second one for the kids to use on their computers). HTH, Len -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
