I have two old versions of Photoshop. I got the oldest one (version 1) a
while ago, and more recently version 3. So I wanted to use PS3 as the app
to open my old PS1 files. It opens and saves them fine, but then if I click
on the file (in OS 9.1) PS1 opens. Investigating with FileTyper I see that
both make files with the same creator code ("8BIM") but different type
codes. If I trash the PS1 app, then PS3 takes over. If I take PS1 out of
the Trash, it's the default again. I can work around this, (I'll probably
permanently delete PS1) but it seems silly. How is it determined which
application opens a file on clicking it (the creator code I expect, though
that's obviously not the only thing), and can this be explicitly changed?
