Finderpop, which was one of the most useful interface
innovations, made use of the click and hold in the
finder to get contexual menus. I never understood why
it was never adopted into the OS interface. I hate to
do without it. Even OS X does make use of this
feature, unless you get something like Fruitmenu.
PopupCD also made use of various click and hold and
half click options.
