Okay, I've never replaced any hardware inside a Mac, but I have a friend who said he'd install a larger hard drive for me, if I bought one. So, I believe my G4/350 AGP tower has a 10GB 5400-rpm Ultra ATA/33 hard disk in it right now...So, when I go to the computer store, do I have to get one with the same specs, that is, 5400 RPM and ATA/33? Or will a faster drive (7200 RPM, ATA/66, etc) be all right? Also, what's the difference between ATA, SATA, Ultra ATA and EIDE/ATA drives? I've seen all of these, but don't know which ones would work in my machine. Thanks for your help.
ATA, EIDE/ATA and Ultra ATA diusk will work in your computer. Any speed (66/100/133) will work and he faster the ortational speed (5400,7200, 10,000) the faster the disk response is.
There's a lot of deals out there on 120 GB drives of various brands.
SATA is Serial ATA which is the new drive types going into the new G5's. These are NOT compatible with your system.
