I was having similar problems with my Pro Mouse. (see Mouse Naps? post on September 10th) I am very good to my mouse too. No cheese at lunch or sips of cola.

Interestingly, I was able to locate a webpage
that addresses my Pro Mouse symptoms, including the
sticking and screen freeze:

http://gatheringspot.com/sewardweb/applepromouse/

I did read through and print out the info, which is a little more daunting than I think I will attempt. Although Ron (an engineer) might find it enjoyable.

I don't know if I'm going to dismantle the thing just yet---think
I'll try picking up a cheap one on eBay first, for testing purposes.

I discovered, after close examination with a magnifying glass, that my mouse has some dust and a few fuzzies inside the bottom. I went at it with compressed air, in all the possible cracks and crevices. I how have a tiny dust bunny pile where the USB cable enters the mouse. Maybe it is insulating the cable...but the mouse has been freeze-free for four days now.
