I agree, a nice design idea that never reached fruition (partly because Apple did not share the design w/ third party developers). Also, the tight restrictions on the hardware combinations (i.e. Rev. 3 boards only, etc.) put a squelch on card swapping or upgrading for Rev. 1 and 2 owners.
