p.s., it's probably actually a sony monitor, or some other brand custom made for
hp, or at least custom marked.  these monitors work fine, if not too old, the
capacitors do eventually fail in all monitors, and are a pain to replace all of.
 i've considered replacing all the caps on a couple of these, but it's hard to
justify the work and $50+ in parts even if it would provide another 5+ years of
use.  chances are however, if it's cheap that it would still be a reasonable
bargain, just know that it doesn't have as much life left as a newer monitor
would.  the manufacture date and model should be on the back of it.  as i said,
the majority of such monitors are really sony monitors, usually in the "gdm"
model series and are made well like any sony.
