I am fairly good at troubleshooting, but I'm at a loss on this one. B&W G3 400; 768 RAM; 120 ATA HD;
A few months ago I started getting random finder restarts. I thought it might be the drive starting to go, so I pulled the 18GB SCSI drive and card and replace with a 120 gig ATA. Things went OK for a week and same thing started happening. Replaced drive under warranty. OK for a couple months and now same problems again. Apps randomly quit and then finder restarts. Drive checks out in DiskUtility, but permissions keep coming up messed up. Repair permissions shows same errors every time The drive seems physically fine, but something is awry. Could it be hardware? last night it conked out completely. Just spins on the apple screen at restart. When trying to reinstall system I get install failed error. ARRGGH! any ideas?
