That's true for the latest crop of ATA-133 cards. Good quality PC ATA-133 cards are just as expensive
as the mac ones, though not by much, because most newer PC motherboards have them built-in. And PC people change motherboards like changing baby diapers so their costs are lower. We Mac people can't do that and that's why, the relative high cost of Mac controller cards.
There are 2 options though for your Mac. Don't get ATA-133 and instead opt for a used ATA-33 or a ATA-66. They should be available on the used market for significantly less than $90. ATA-133 cards work better if you have a really fast system with a fast bus, because you will never be able to achieve close to its maximum burst rate if you don't. So why pay more? TurboMax ATA-33 or Sonnet ATA-66 cards should do the trick.
Second option would be to upgrade your drives to higher capacity, though your limit would be 127Gb per drive. Swap all 3 to 120Gb which will give you 360Gb of storage space. If you're running OSX, use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your old drive's data to the new drive. Then, sell your old drives on eBay to recoup your cost.
