PCI graphics cards were fine for the time, but no question that AGP is superior. I have a PCI card and wish it where AGP. For upgradeability, AGP is the way to go. It's easier to find AGP graphics cards and they out perform their PCI cousins by a wide margin. I researched the PCI Radeon 7000 when it first came out. Can't remember the specifics, but a review in Macworld stated that the upgrade card did not accelerate the 3D side of the fence so I saw no point in getting it. AGP cards generally have more video RAM as well.

I disagree. Yikes is a fine machine if had at the right price. The ram
load there is useful, the HD is tiny, but for what you describe, enough.
Same with the Sawtooth, although you should bump the ram in that unit.
Offer $350 for the first and be willing to negotiate to $375. Make sure
monitor, KB and mouse is included. The second, because of the ram load...no
more than $400, although shoot for $350 - 375. Also make sure it has a
monitor, KB and HD.
Low end Mac, guys. PCI graphics is fine. It worked for years, will continue to work. It wasn't a throwback, it was a last go.
