Well, locally the only place I've found so far has been ISU. Unfortunately they have a bloated sense of equipment value, so computers sit for weeks or months before they're low enough to purchase. He has beige g3s usually sitting at $100-225 depending on whether or not it includes a monitor, and I fully expect he'd have B&Ws at $300 if he had any to sell at the moment. Of course I also think they are selling illegal copies of the OS, but that's another argument altogether.

Most businesses around here sell to employees only (or at least first). The local science center has had a sale occasionally, but their prices are more bloated than the university's.

The truth is that there is no one place for such deals. They come from
businesses, schools, government...wherever depreciation has rendered the
items into items that have to be sold at tax value. Auctions for
bankruptcies and ebay sell at consumer prices. I look for tax prices.
