The video on my Beige G3/266 went bad so I bought another motherboard on eBay: a Rev C with the Rage + DVD graphics. I pulled out the old board, put the new one in along with a new PRAM battery, and the second I plugged it in, the powersupply started up. I couldn't hear the hard drive working, and the CAPS LOCK/NUM LOCK lights just flash on the keyboard. No response from the power key on the keyboard and on the machine.
I checked all the connections, tried unplugging SCSI devices, put the old PRAM battery back in, switched out ROMS and Voltage Regulators, and nothing had any effect. I put the old board back in, and heard the happy start up bong, but of course no video. Is the new board dead? I waited a month for it to arrive -- mail is notoriously slow where I live so I'm kind of hesitant to go through the whole return to seller procedure. If the board is dead, I'm out $50 but at least have the better ROM and a couple RAM sticks for my trouble. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Will a PCI video card solve my dead video problem on the original board?
