Well -- once more.

sane,
http://www.sane-project.org/

latest tested sane version:
1.0.12

Mac OSX 10.2.6 supported
scsi supported
usb supported
shared libs and dynamic lib loading supported and as graphical frontends
xscanimage and xcam are supported. Check out xsane as well -- maybe it's
ported to OSX already and it'S the best scan-frontend with plenty of
features.

It's free as in "free speech" but won't cost more then the download time
as well...

the download area doesn't have a binary for osx:
http://www.sane-project.org/source.html

so I guess you want a source package and compile it yourself. the apple
gcc (I guess coming with OSX) will be able to compile it.

For the graphic frontends you also want an X11-server. Go look for
XFree86 on http://www.xfree86.org/, there is a port for osx available.
