If you can find it, MiniCAD is also a fairly good program. MiniCAD became VectorWorks a few years ago.


Last year I was looking for a CAD program for my husband's son, who is a Welding Engineer. I was able to find MiniCAD 7 (with registration codes, all the books and CDs) on ebay last year for around seventy dollars. So far, he has been pretty happy with it.

Chris, the Welding Engineer, has taken some AutoCAD programs, and said MiniCAD has a lot of similar features.
