Hi Joe and all; Check on the MOBO and you'll see the 2 ATA bus connectors, which are marked J9 and J10. If you use only one bus, you must use J9 as it is the primary bus, ATA bus 0. If only using one bus you cannot have anything hooked to J 10, not even a cable. The socket on the MOBO must be empty The 2nd bus, J10, ATA bus 1, goes to the CD drive if it is an ATAPI drive and to the built in Zip if it has one. Make sure these cables are right. Once you make sure the cables are right, be sure the CD is set as Master and the Zip is set as slave. To install a slave drive on ATA bus 0 with the boot drive, the boot drive must be jumpered as Master and the 2nd drive must be jumpered as slave. You don't say if this a Desktop or a Mini-Tower, but while you're inside, make sure all chips and cables are fully seated, Ram, Rom, PCI cards ect. If in doubt pull and reseat them. I've had 1 of each running 4 drives, so I know it'll work. Also you should reset the CUDA any time you make any hardware change and you may also have to zap the PRAM, hold down command, option,P and R keys on startup until the Beige bongs 10 times. Yes, 10 times. "It's a Beige thing". If I got any of this wrong or missed anything, I'm sure Mr. PeterH will follow up, as He's our resident G3 expert <grin>. --Rev.
