Is there anything I could have done to cause this? Any way I can check it? When I put a bootable HD in bus 0, System Profiler simply shows nothing on bus 01. On the other hand, I can't get it to start up unless I do have something plugged in to bus 01. Any ideas anyone? Desperately, Joe --- end of quote --- I used to have drives and busses disappear on my Beige a lot. It seemed that if I shut down completely and let the drives stop, sometimes they would come back. I never did get to the bottom of this but it was not a hardware problem since I always got everything back eventually. The person who suggested multiple zaps of the prom probably has it right, or the reset button on the motherboard might work if nothing else. I don't believe you have a hardware problem. Finally, to avoid this and for the speed and additional drives, I bought a 133 ATA pci card. I now run three drives on the card and one on the motherboard bus (since I can't figure out how to cable for the 4th drive.) No more problems. (Beige MT, rev 1 motherboard, rev C rom.) Good luck.
