Beige MT power supply swap question

I have a pretty maxed out beige G3 MT and I am getting tired of how 
noisy the power supply is. I am thinking of swapping it out with a new 
pc  power supply. I know the MB connector is the same, but I seem to 
remember there being other issues from older posts on the list, like 
cable length or mounting issues.

Can anyone give me a heads up on what to look out for if I attempt to 
swap power supplies?
