I once had a similar problem with two 100MB Zips:- If I used the MacOS to format them, they could only be read by the Mac which formatted them, but if I used Iomega Tools to format them - they could be read anywhere. I have three Zip250Mb drives at work, 2 on Macs, 1 on a PC, and they all write to/from 100Mb disks (formatted as DOS), so all three can read/write any disk.
