This question has been one of the most intriguing for
me since I joined this group. I see the Mac's and PC's
as two unique solutions to personal computing needs.
While PC's are an ok place to start the process of
learning to use a computer/internet and will be the
defult computer for most, the Mac's still continue to
hold the high ground for creative professional
productions with many technically advanced users.

For the target audience...I would suggest finding a
30+ blade "Swiss Army Knife" to hold up for them to
look upon and suggest that they are looking at a Mac.
Then holding up a simple pocket knife and make the
comparison to a PC, and reminding them that both can
do some of the same things. Then draw the comparison
to the Mac's greater latitude in the creative process.
Or, use a simple little snapshot camera and a big
35mm SLR outfit for the comparison.

If you are in a school setting where a desktop beige
Mac could be rolled in to a "PC" classroom and booted
to display its GUI/OS just for the comparison, that
would be a nice thing to do. Some people may have
access to a public library(or such facility) where
some Mac's are available to the public ot try out. If
you know of such in your area then mention it to your
class. Mention some websites and message boards for
them to visit to learn more as well.

In the last year or so I became a Mac "switch" as so
many job offers requested proviciency in both
platforms. I now own a G3/300 and a 6400 Preforma with
loads of graphic/web design software. It's all been
quite worthwhile.
