I did a little digging and found a firmware update (v 2.4.4) on Acard's site to update the firmware for use as RAID 1. The Sonnet card came with firmware version 2.4.3 However, they are still using the Acard 6880M and just rebranding it. I have applied the firmware update.
Using the Acard utility program I can delete the RAID array and reconfigure it from stripped to mirrored in OS 9.2 The newly configured RAID 1 shows up just fine in OS 9.2 I can boot up in Panther and it shows up as one drive just fine.
However, in Jaguar where I originally set up the Sonnet RAID 0, it seems to be "stuck" in stripped. Disk Utility only shows one big stripped drive. I tried booting up in Panther and erasing and reformatting the drives, but they remain stuck as stripped in Jaguar, when I boot back into 10.2.8.
I know that the Sonnet card can be used for RAID 1. David Ensteness wrote (in part) on October 2, 2003 "My server is a Blue and White G4 400 with 256MB and a mirrored RAID of 160 GB 7200rpm ATA/133 drives on a Sonnet ATA/133 card."
Can someone tell me how to find whatever it is in the 10.2.8 system that identifies the drives as RAID 0, so I can change it to RAID 1?
